Discover the Risks: Dental Treatment Abroad vs. UK
Attention, Dental Adventurers!
RISK #1: Language Barriers
Picture this: you find yourself in a charming European dental clinic, but oops! The people treating you don’t speak English fluently, and you struggle to communicate any medical history, dental history or any specific concerns – you will likely not know when they have not picked you up correctly. Miscommunication can lead to misunderstandings and, worse, improper treatments! Remember, when it’s about your precious teeth, health and confidence you don’t want any lost in translation moments.
RISK #2: Quality of Treatment and ensuring they are qualified to carry it out.
RISK #3: Post-Treatment Support
RISK #4: Legal Recourse

Daryl advises How to Get a Perfect Smile
We’ve got a really interesting case here involving implants that were placed abroad. The images are the initial radiographs taken which show how badly they have been placed, and then the state of the implants that we needed to remove. This type of implant would not be used in the UK (often the reason that cheaper implants are used abroad) and they should certainly not be placed in the position where they damage the neighbouring teeth). The patient now requires significant treatment just to get them healthy again before embarking on reconstruction treatment to fix the botched treatment they received elsewhere.
We’d like to share with you a compelling case study involving 21 crowns that were placed in Turkey that had to be replaced. The reason behind this replacement was large overhangs, which led to severe gum inflammation and bleeding that would likely lead onto advanced bone loss around the teeth with decay and likely loss of numerous teeth into the future. Please note that with modern dental techniques we use it is difficult to think of any situation that this number of crowns would be the treatment of choice to create a beautiful smile.
Now, we’re not here to stop you from exploring the wonders of Europe or enjoying a delicious croissant. However, when it comes to your dental and general health, it’s crucial to weigh the risks and make an informed decision. The UK dental landscape may not boast cobblestone streets or breath-taking landscapes, but it does offer reliability, expertise, and peace of mind.
So, before you pack your bags and hop on the next flight, take a moment to consider the consequences. Your smile deserves the best care, no matter where you are. Think twice, and keep those teeth shining bright.
